Self-service quotes

Allow customers to generate their own price quotes directly from the checkout page.

Self-service quotes let prospects generate an official quote automatically at checkout, without contacting your sales team. When enabled, a Generate Quote button appears in the cart. Clicking it skips the immediate payment step, generates a quote containing all items in the cart, and redirects the customer to the quote URL.

Self-service quotes appear in your store's Quotes list immediately. FastSpring lists the recipient's name as the creator, and the quote name defaults to "Quote generated by [Recipient Name]".

Customer experience

Here is the typical workflow for a prospect using this feature:

  1. Generate: At checkout, the prospect clicks Generate Quote. FastSpring creates a quote for the specific cart items and redirects them to the quote URL.
  2. Review: The prospect reviews the quote details. When ready, they click Accept & Continue at the bottom of the page.
  3. Checkout: The B2B Popup checkout opens directly over the quote.
  4. Fulfillment: The prospect can complete the purchase immediately or request an invoice. FastSpring delivers the fulfillment based on your quote settings.

Enable self-service quotes

You can enable this feature within your store checkout settings. The location varies depending on your checkout type.

  1. In the FastSpring app, go to Checkouts > Popup Checkouts.
  2. Click Settings on the applicable checkout. The Checkout Settings page opens.
  3. On the Checkout tab, locate the Checkout Experience section.
  4. Check Enable next to the Allow Customers to Generate Quotes setting.
  5. Click Save.

Customers will see a Generate Quote button in the popup checkout window.

Additional settings

To configure advanced self-service behaviors, go to Settings > Store Settings > Invoicing > Self Service Settings in the FastSpring app.

  • Enable Self Service Upgrades: Allows buyers to modify orders and subscriptions in their Account Management portal (e.g., adjusting quantity, upgrading).
  • Enable Net D Invoice Payment Methods: Allows buyers to add or update payment methods for Net D invoices via the Account Management Portal.
  • Allow Separate Billing Contact: Enables FastSpring to collect and retain separate billing contact information for each payment method.
  • Self Service Automatic to Manual Billing Changes: When enabled, buyers can switch from automatic to manual billing terms from their account management page.
