Mercado Pago Availability

This feature is being rolled out in phases and may only be available for some eligible users.

Overview

Mercado Pago gives buyers from Brazil, Mexico, and Chile a secure, convenient, and local way to make payments using their preferred payment method.

FastSpring offers Mercado Pago as a payment option to buyers from the following countries and purchasing in the following currencies:

Prerequisites

To use Mercado Pago:

• The buyer must purchase from the countries and purchase in the currencies listed in the Mercado Pago availability table above.
• The buyer must have an active Mercado Pago account.

Warning

Mercado Pago is not a payment method option for products with auto-recurring payments.

Customer experience

Here's what the FastSpring Mercado Pago experience looks like for buyers:

1. The buyer selects Mercado Pago as their payment option during checkout.
2. FastSpring prompts the buyer for personal details. If FastSpring already has the buyer's details, a session is automatically created.

For buyers purchasing from Brazil, we will collect the buyers' CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) numbers, which are required for Brazilian transaction regulation.

3. FastSpring redirects the buyer to the Mercado Pago login page. Here, the buyer must authenticate themselves.
4. Once authenticated, the payment transaction is initiated. If it is not completed within 60 minutes, FastSpring automatically cancels the transaction.
5. Once the buyer completes the payment process, FastSpring displays a completed order confirmation.

Refunds and returns

When it comes to your store, we suggest you process refunds and returns the same way you would any other transaction. FastSpring will automatically return the funds to the buyer's account.

Webhooks

FastSpring sends the following details in the order.completed webhook payload for orders successfully completed with Mercado Pago:
