FastSpring supports Alipay as a payment method for buyers in China.

Alipay gives buyers in China a secure and convenient way to pay using one of their most popular digital wallet apps. FastSpring supports Alipay for buyers purchasing in USD or CNY from both mobile and desktop.

Prerequisites

To use Alipay, the following requirements must be met:

Payment must be in USD or CNY, and the transaction country must be China.
Buyers must have a valid Chinese national identity number and an active Alipay wallet balance.
Buyers must have the Alipay iOS or Android app installed.

Customer experience

Here's what the FastSpring Alipay checkout experience looks like for buyers.

Desktop experience

The buyer selects Alipay as their payment method during checkout.
FastSpring asks for required personal details. If FastSpring already has the customer's details on file, it creates a session without prompting for them again.
For a valid session, FastSpring displays the Alipay button.
Once the buyer clicks the Alipay button, FastSpring displays a unique QR code with payment details.
The buyer scans the QR code using their Alipay app.
In the Alipay app, once the buyer confirms the transaction, the FastSpring checkout automatically updates to show a success message.

Mobile experience

The buyer selects Alipay as their payment method during checkout.
FastSpring asks for required personal details. If FastSpring already has the customer's details on file, it creates a session without prompting for them again.
For a valid session, FastSpring displays the Alipay button.
Once the buyer taps the Alipay button, the Alipay app launches automatically.
In the Alipay app, once the buyer confirms the transaction, the FastSpring checkout automatically updates to show a success message.

Refunds and returns

Process refunds and returns the same way you would for any other transaction. FastSpring will automatically return the funds to the customer's Alipay account.

Webhooks

FastSpring includes the following field in the order.completed webhook payload when an order is completed with Alipay:

Yes. FastSpring supports Alipay for one-time purchases and auto-recurring subscriptions.

Yes. Alipay is a real-time payment method and transactions complete within a few seconds.

Is there a minimum and maximum transaction amount?

Yes. Alipay transactions require a minimum of $1 / ¥1 and support a maximum of $400 / ¥3,000. See Transaction limits for all payment methods.
