# Add product options

Learn how to add product options to a product, bundle, or subscription.

Follow this guide to add product options, such as Alternatives, Single-Choice, or Multiple-Choice options, to any product, bundle, or subscription. You'll configure headings, placement, and selection requirements so these options appear seamlessly at checkout.

## Product option types

FastSpring supports three product option types. Use the cards below to understand behavior and availability for each checkout experience.

## Configure product options

Use product options to present alternatives, single-choice, or multiple-choice upgrades at checkout.

1. Sign in to the FastSpring app.
2. Go to **Catalog** > choose **Products**, **Bundles**, or **Subscriptions**.
3. Select the item you want to add product options to. The product details page opens.
4. In the **Related Offers** section, click **Add** > **Product Options**.
5. Choose your **Option Type** (Alternatives, Single-Choice option, or Multiple-Choice option).
6. (For Single/Multiple choice only) Select:
   * **Require selection**: Customer must pick at least one.
   * **Inherit Quantity**: Option quantity matches the primary item.
7. (Optional) In **Display**, enter a customer-facing heading shown above the product options.
   > **Tip:** Use the language dropdown to enter the heading in additional languages.
8. Choose a **Placement** number from the dropdown to control the order in which product options appear at checkout.
   > **Note:** This only applies if you configure two or more options for the product.
9. In the **Products** field, start typing the name of the product or [product variation](https://developer.fastspring.com/docs/create-a-product-variation) you want to present as a product option.
10. (Optional) Select **Preselected** to auto-add the product option to the cart.
11. Click **Save**.
